By education and trade, Brian is a programmer and engineer. His academic interests are interdisciplinary. He is a technologist who chooses to think critically about technology and encourages others to do the same.

He serves as Faculty Advisor for the ACM student chapter at Champlain College, and is also a reviewer for the academic journal Syllabus.

Prior to transitioning into academia, he worked for ten years as a professional in the technology field including positions as a Programmer, a Quality Engineer in industry, and a Systems Engineer at Wolfram Research. He holds an A.A.S. in Computer Information Systems, a B.S. and M.S. in Information Technology, and an Sc.D. in Information Systems and Communications.
