Since 2000, Elaine Young has been a professor at Champlain. She currently teaches courses in Digital Marketing, Digital Analytics and Analysis, Advanced Digital Marketing, Community Management, Game Production Management, and the Marketing Capstone. She also teaches the Marketing course in Champlain's MBA Program.

She loves teaching at Champlain because it allows her to connect with the students and truly mentor them. Class sizes allow her to know all her students by name (as long as her memory holds out) and get to know their strengths so she can teach more effectively. She enjoys watching students make connections—when the light bulb goes off it's great to see! She also understands that students today are juggling many different priorities, and it's important for them to be able to connect with someone in their chosen field of study. There is no better way to learn than by doing. It's hard, chaotic and messy. But, when you get through it, you can look back and realize that you have actually learned something. That's what makes teaching and learning at Champlain a meaningful experience.

Her role as a faculty advisor is one of the most challenging aspects of her job—and the one that she finds most rewarding. Students seem to appreciate being able to come and talk about both challenges and successes and get advice from her about careers, internships and opportunities that come up outside of the classroom.

She has a Ph.D. in Organizational Management from Capella University, where her dissertation research examined technology use and adoption of college students, and she developed a teaching model for faculty to follow when teaching a technology application in a classroom environment. She also holds an M.S. in Internet Strategy Management from Marlboro College, a B.S. in Communication and Public Relations from SUNY Brockport and an A.S. in Communication from Genesee Community College. She has over ten years of experience in the Marketing and Public Affairs profession, specializing in non-profits.
