Description:

Paradise is an environment created in the Unreal Development Kit using pre-existing assets created by Epic Games. I am not an environmental artist, but and I am an environmental designer. An environmental designer is responsible for bringing a world to life by using more than just static objects. Sounds, particle effects, lighting and layout are all critical elements in making a world as convincing as possible to the player. Every object in Paradise was hand-placed. There were no speed trees or foliage volumes used in its creation. Detail was given to the placement of every flower and root on the ground. Even the moss on the temple was painted to create the illusion that it is made out of different assets instead of only a half-dozen building blocks.
